policy    young people should have a real voice
in their communities. They should have the chance to be advocates and policymakers, and to participate in the decisions that shape how they live, learn, work and play. YLI works with young people and their adult allies to make sure that youth have a say in how policies are made, whether at the local, state or national level.

The campaign for a California Youth Advisory Council is based on the idea that young people across the state need to speak with a unified voice when it comes to creating change in Sacramento. Over the past year, YLI has worked with young people on the San Francisco Youth Commission, the Marin County Youth Commission and other groups to call for the creation of the first-ever statewide youth representative body — and we're making progress! Learn more about how CYAC would work, and how you can help make this idea a reality.
