Round of applause for the City of Fresno, which received the League of California Cities Helen Putman Award for engaging young people in local government.

In 2016, the City partnered with YLI to establish the Fresno Youth Commission, giving youth a seat at the table to speak on issues that matter to them. Today, the City recognized YLI for this successful partnership, that has resulted in key policies that have greatly expanded opportunities for youth in Fresno.

Thank you Fresno City Council for helping to create the Youth Commission and for your ongoing championship of these young leaders! And, thank you to all of the city officials from throughout California who stopped by our booth last week at the League of California Cities conference to learn more about starting Youth Commissions in their cities.
