Ale joined Youth Leadership Institute team as an intern when the Merced office opened its doors in 2018. He has since supported Rise and Lift, which focused on the healing and leadership development of boys and men of color and later co-created the framework for the Young Revolutionary Front. Through his journey in youth organizing, he strengthened his connection to indigenous healing and wisdom as well as his organizing practices. He has led various projects and campaigns including The DY Project, which was a research documentary film that centered on the experiences of youth who are unhoused and displaced in Merced.
Young people in Merced have transformed the culture of movement building and have created a space for Ale to continue to learn about what is possible for our communities. With gratitude in the forefront, he devotes his capacity to their wellbeing and development.
Ale grounds his community efforts in education for liberation, revolutionary healing, meaningful relationship building and transformation. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of California, Merced.
