Alejandro Jurado joined the Youth Leadership Institute team as an intern for the Rise and Lift program in Merced, which focuses on the healing and leadership development of boys and men of color. Through his journey in the program, he strengthened his connection to indigenous healing and wisdom as well as his organizing practices. In his time with yli, he led the team for The DY Project, which was a research documentary film that centered on the experiences of youth who are homeless and displaced in Merced.
Alejandro grounds his community efforts in education for liberation, revolutionary healing, movement and transformation. He will be receiving a Bachelors of Art in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of California, Merced.
