Gloria Cisneros, originally from Novato, CA, attended school in Novato until 3rd grade. For the next 2 years, she attended school in Mexico, which allowed her to connect deeply with her culture and improve her Spanish significantly. Mexico is a huge part of her life — she’s been visiting every summer since she was 5. Upon returning to California, she continued her education and received a BA in Psychology from Sonoma State.
Gloria has a strong background in working with youth and in mental health. She volunteered at a Suicide Prevention hotline for 3 years, and worked at San Quentin State Prison in their reentry program for over a year. Her love for travel has led her to Europe and to move to Spain for nine months to teach English at a private school.
Much of Gloria’s work has focused on empowering youth socially and mentally and she hopes to return to school in the future. Gloria runs the Student Advocacy Council and Friday Night Live programs at Novato High School, as well as the Friday Night Live program at Marin Oaks High School. She also supports the Student Advocacy Councils in Novato Unified School District, specifically working with the Student Representatives on the School Board.
