Kato Prado is excited to build upon the community-centered work that has driven their academic career, and their work as a Program Manager for REP559 and the Transform Fresno Youth Leadership Development Program.
Kato was born and raised in southeast Fresno, CA before leaving for New York to earn their Bachelor’s of Arts in both Political Science and Drama. Kato played varsity rugby for a D2 program and belonged to the Queer, Trans, and Non-binary Student Athlete organization on campus. The bulk of their academic work as well as their experience as a research assistant consisted of working with peers to research and write about group consciousness within communities of color.
Kato finds a lot of joy in sharing wellness and artistic practices with the young people in their programs. When they’re not at work, they can be found working out at the gym, roller skating, or making sounds at band practice.
