Margarita Vasquez

Margarita grew up in Half Moon Bay, CA and first joined YLI as a youth participant about five years ago leading our Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) prevention work in the coastside of San Mateo County. While part of the Coastside Youth Council, Margarita helped lead our Lee Law efforts, establish strong relationships with City Council, supported our financial and economic justice work, and helped raise funds during our 2016 Silicon Valley Gives fundraiser. After her civic engagement took our Half Moon Bay and AOD work to the next level, Margarita joined the San Mateo County Youth Commission and represented a geographical voice that had been missing for over 20 years in the commission. She was part of the Immigrant Youth Committee, and through this role, Margarita learned about the importance of community input in boards and commissions.

Currently, Margarita is a junior at San Francisco State University, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and minoring in Health Education. All her work led to the opportunity to become a program coordinator leading our Transportation Justice efforts in Half Moon Bay.
