Our youth, and particularly our youth of color, are experiencing the impacts of COVID-19 in the most direct and immediate ways. So, we’re adapting our programs to provide support, structure and continuity to their days. We’re getting them groceries, clean drinking water, and WiFi hotspots for school and work. We’re connecting them to each other, to adult allies, and to other partners who can provide additional resources.
We need youth voice right now. Their experiences – and their brilliant visions for our collective future – have the potential to drive real change in this intense moment of social uncertainty. By ensuring that they get what they need to stay healthy and connected, we’ll be able to continue to help them lift up their voices, and craft and implement their solutions to the issues that are impacting all of us.
Contributions to yli go directly to our flagship programs that serve our youth leaders, of whom 90% are people of color and 71% are from low-income communities across California’s Eastern Coachella Valley, Long Beach, Central Valley, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo.
We welcome donations of any kind from funding streams that are aligned with our values. We seek partners and allies to our movement: individuals and entities that believe in our youth and are striving to do their part to make the world a more equitable place, not just by contributing their resources to our youth-led work, but by living out these values in their own workplaces.
We do not accept funding from foundations, individuals, or other entities that acquire their wealth by producing, promoting, selling, or investing in the following:
- Sugary-sweet beverages
- Gambling or Casinos
- Check Cashing
- Private Prisons
- Fossil Fuels
- Human Rights Violations (e.g. Employing Slave Labor/Human Trafficking, Violating Indigenous Land Rights, Reinforcing Racially Discriminatory Policies)
