Mobilizing Youth to Nix Tobacco (MYNT) of Fresno County, a program of Youth Leadership Institute, in partnership with Amplify! the African American Statewide Coordinating Center presents “Building Our Future” Open Mic Night. MYNT is a youth leadership coalition from Fresno County that is motivated to reduce tobacco-related health issues that impact the African-American Community in the Central Valley through advocacy, education, and cultural moments. Amplify! provides statewide technical support to community initiatives advocating for Tobacco Reform for the African-American Community throughout California by “fostering a legacy of physical, mental and spiritual wellness”.

Charged by recent events and track record of Big Tobacco targeting youth and young adults, MYNT responds to the call and challenge from the Truth Initiative to #ditchJUUL, and create a cultural moment to stand up for the health of young people, their community, and future.

At the John W. Dodson Theatre in Bitwise: South Stadium, “Building Our Future” Open Mic Night will be a smoke-free and vape-free night of community, culture, and creativity! On Friday, October 11 from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. We invite those in the creative arts community to come and showcase their gift in:

  • Spoken Word/Poetry
  • Song
  • Music
  • Dance
  • Or other creative art forms
