Effective Public Health Communications During the COVID-19 Pandemic

$50The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the ways public health professionals do health education and communications, both in who is messaging, and how the messages are disseminated. The pandemic has also underscored the significance of population-specific outreach, education and messaging that truly understand and respect population-specific health behaviors and beliefs. Furthermore, recognizing that health communication is crucial for the success of implementing policy change, community-based organizations, advocates and policy makers are learning to harness the strength of media and social media to drive attitude and behavioral changes. This workshop seeks to explore effective public health communications during the COVID-19 pandemic from a variety of perspectives that will improve health equity.
This panel discussion will feature yli’s very own Program Coordinator, Olivia Rodriguez, and is part of the 3-day California Pan-Ethnic Health Network’s biennial Voices for Change Conference. On February 9-11, policy makers, elected officials, non-profits, and community organizations will come to share their thoughts and expertise on a wide variety of health equity policy areas.
