“Estamos Aquí” (“We Are Here”) will premiere at a free public screening at Coachella’s Veterans’ Park (1515 6th St, between Orchard and Vine,) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wed., Nov. 7. The film screening will start at 6 p.m. and be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers. In the event of rain or heavy wind, the viewing will move to Bobby Duke Middle School, 5358 Bagdad Ave, Coachella. The event will also include information about community-based science currently happening at the Salton Sea.
Our goal with this documentary is to uplift the stories of our community members who live next to the Salton Sea. We know there’s more to the Salton Sea than just rotting fish and abandoned buildings. The Eastern Coachella Valley is where our family and friends live, work, and go to school. This film is our way of reclaiming our community’s narrative.
