Alexandra Chavez (she/her)

Alex was born and raised in Firebaugh, CA. Coming from a small, rural, predominantly low socio-economic status community, she understood that utilizing resources was vital to her educational and professional journey. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2016 and her Masters in Counseling in 2019, both from Fresno State. Since 2011, she has worked in various areas in education with a focus on underserved students including early childhood literacy, outreach and recruitment, academic advising, and coordinating special programs. Over the last four years she has worked at UC Merced, West Hills College and most recently Fresno State.

Alex’s work values are serving young people with a holistic, social justice lens. Her work is centered on the value of each individual’s unique needs to support their academic and personal success.

Alex is currently the Program Manager for the Redefining Equity and Access Program (REP 559). In this role, she works on the leadership development of 15-25 Fresno County youth and supports them in developing long lasting community and policy change. She develops their communication and policy knowledge skills while connecting them with partners and events where they can advocate for youth and community issues.

In her free time, Alex enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Jack and Kevin. She also enjoys cycling, pilates, practicing yoga, watching movies and doing home improvement projects.
