Heidy Velasquez (she/her/ella)

Heidy was born and raised in Selma where she attended Selma High School and was part of the youth in Friday Night Live. This was a pathway for her to become self-aware and break social norms in her community. During her undergraduate years, she worked with youth, underserved families, and at-risk populations to adopt a healthier lifestyle. She has been involved in several youth development programs such as Peer Health Ambassador at Fresno Barrios and Youth Adult Partnership where she empowered and recruited youth to raise awareness on health issues and increase reproductive services to youth in Fresno County.

Heidy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health from CSU Fresno State, and she continued her work by providing mental health rehabilitation services to children, youth, and adults. She provided psychoeducation on healthy coping skills and facilitated educational groups to raise awareness on mental illnesses. With her experience serving the needs of her community, she would like to be a support system for youth to feel empowered and find their voice as she did. During

Heidy’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family, exercising, and listening to podcasts or reading.
