Sonia Saltzman (she/her)

Sonia grew up in Marin County and currently attends UC Berkeley, where she studies Political Science & Sociology. Prior to that, she graduated from College of Marin with two Associates degrees in Political Science & Social and Behavioral Science. Sonia is extremely passionate about advocacy and social justice, especially for underrepresented communities! Her passions are rooted in her experiences facing and witnessing systemic adversities. She has worked diligently to tackle issues hands-on in Marin County in order to create a more equitable community.

Prior to joining yli, Sonia was a youth participant and served on the Marin County Youth Commission in the Racial Equity sub-committee. In the community, Sonia served as the President of the Associated Students of College of Marin, Intered for the Marin Women’s Commission, and was a Director for the International Model United Nations Association.

Sonia currently coordinates two Community based programs, the Marin County Youth Commission (MCYC) and Marin Organizing for Racial Equity (MORE). She is super excited to foster an environment that empowers young people to drive meaningful change!

Outside of work and school, Sonia loves art, music, film photography, and spending time with her friends & family!
