What is this bill about?
When compared to other states, California ranks near the bottom when it comes to our kids. We have among the largest school readiness gaps in the country. Our classes are bigger, we have fewer counselors and nurses, our course offerings are stripped down to bare bones, and fewer support services than almost any other state.
How does it align with yli’s values?
Many of the youth who participate in our programs are middle and high school students. We support policies that ensure that youth – especially youth of color – have access to quality resources.
What is yli doing about it?
We have just signed a letter of support for a new revenue measure that would focus solely on education: quality childcare, preschool, K-12, and higher education. And, we are voicing our support on social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
