AB 2430 – The Bridge and Boost Act

What is this bill about?

AB 2430 strengthens California’s afterschool investment by expanding access for adolescents, protecting program quality, and improving transparency.

How does it align with yli’s values?

California invests more than $5 billion annually in afterschool and summer programs that provide safe environments after school, academic support, enrichment opportunities, and child care that allows parents to work. While access has expanded dramatically for younger students, adolescents remain largely left out. High school students represent nearly one-third of California’s students, yet receive only a fraction of expanded learning funding.

yli partners with thousands of youth across the state, the majority of whom are low-income youth of color. Our youth depend on us to pass policies like AB 2430, which provide educational opportunities that lead to meaningful and lucrative careers.

This policy aligns with our Education Justice Platform, which advocates for free, high quality, inclusive education for all.
