AB 805 – Career Apprenticeship Bridge Program

What is this bill about?

AB 805 strengthens coordination across education and workforce systems, support regional intermediaries, and expand access to apprenticeship opportunities for young people across California—especially those facing barriers to employment.

How does it align with yli’s values?

The California Youth Apprenticeship Committee was created through the 2021–2022 state budget (SB 191) to develop a statewide youth apprenticeship system connecting education, workforce development, and employers. In November 2025, the Committee released its final report, The California Youth Apprenticeship Model, outlining 18 recommendations to strengthen and expand youth apprenticeship pathways across California. AB 805 implements key recommendations that expand structured pathways between education and apprenticeship.

yli partners with thousands of youth across the state, the majority of whom are low-income youth of color. Our youth depend on us to pass policies like AB 805, which provide educational opportunities that lead to meaningful and lucrative careers.

This policy aligns with our Education Justice Platform, which advocates for free, high quality, inclusive education for all.
