Cactus Flower

The Cactus Flower program is a wellness initiative to engage in-custody youth at the Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex to learn artistic self expression through art, writing, and other various creative mediums. At the end of our program, the youth will showcase their work in a public art exhibition at the Multicultural Art Center (MAC) and other venues throughout the county.

Within the Cactus Flower program, a range of educational and rehabilitative activities is offered to incarcerated youth. Cactus Flower offers alternative forms of healing, mentorship, professional development, and personal growth. Through a reflective, creative process, youth will create original works of art to be displayed and reinforce their voices and talents within the community.

Check out their first publication, Cactus Flower Art Zine, published in February of 2025.
