My Hood, My City

MY HOOD, MY CITY works with Long Beach young people, ages 14-24, living in  the Northside, Westside, or Washington neighborhood of Long Beach —  neighborhoods that have experienced disproportionate amounts of violence, underinvestment, poverty, and COVID-19.

10 youth from each neighborhood will develop digital multimedia projects and in-person tours that will raise awareness, pride and knowledge regarding the cultural and structural makeup of the neighborhoods. Youth will learn photography, writing, and interviewing, and use them to highlight the histories, assets and realities of their communities. Neighborhood tours will take place during the month of August. Participants will be compensated through stipends and equipment will be provided. To participate, sign up using our Google Form.
