  2. Fundamentals of Youth Development 
    • In this fun and interactive training participants will learn the framework of positive youth development. Participants will walk away with a clear understanding of both the philosophy and practice of positive youth development, including the youth development standards of practice. Through individual reflections, small group discussion and real-world scenarios, participants will be engaged and empowered to apply youth development best practices to their own programs. 
  3. Building Equitable Youth and Adult Partnerships 
    • Youth are the leaders of today! Young people bring perspectives and experiences that are vital to social change and need the support and partnership of adult allies to fully realize their leadership power. In this fun and interactive virtual workshop we will learn and explore the philosophy and framework of positive youth and adult partnerships, the Hart’s Ladder of Youth Participation, adultism and anecdotes, and strategies for building powerful youth and adult partnerships. 
  4. Tools and Techniques for Meaningful Youth Engagement 
    • In this training participants will learn how to create space for active and authentic youth voice. Participants will explore strategies for designing and facilitating youth-friendly meetings and events as well as tools and techniques for recruitment, retention, and leadership development. 
  5. Planning for Youth and Adult Partnerships and Meaningful Youth Engagement 
    • In this fun and interactive session participants will explore strategies and actions for fostering more meaningful youth engagement based on their respective roles in the group or community. Participants will also collaboratively create a plan of action for supporting youth leadership & engagement and building healthy youth and adult partnerships. 
  6. Introduction To Youth Leadership
    • Learn about the power of youth leadership and advocacy through historic and local stories. Explore and learn the qualities and skills of a leader, including active listening, group decision-making and tips on how to be a leader in your community and school. 
  7. Youth-Led Community Change Campaigns
    • This training explores historical and current  examples of local and national youth-led movements, how change was achieved, and provides opportunities for participants to share personal experiences and examples.
  8. CliftonStrengths
    • CliftonStrengths has become a popular tool for conducting team building around the globe.  The training seminar assists individuals and teams understand, apply, and integrate their strengths into their respective roles. This tool helps individuals and teams discover their unique talents for greater team engagement, performance, and improved outcomes. 
  9. Racial Justice & Equity
    • This workshop explores racial and social justice concepts as they relate to youth development. This includes equity, access, diversity, dismantling systems of oppression, and transformative justice. You will learn how to address systemic racism through a public health lens and in partnership with youth as well as examining personal contexts, biases, and practical examples of sustainable change.
  10. Youth Philanthropy
    • This workshop introduces the concept of philanthropy. It helps participants understand what philanthropy means and how young people are currently engaged in different forms of philanthropy. Participants will explore the importance of philanthropy to our communities and better understand philanthropy as a tool for community change.   11. Communities Mobilizing For Change On Alcohol
    • The CMCA model — which focuses on the environments that encourage risky behavior — emphasizes authentic youth-adult partnerships, and sets the stage for a cascade of positive community-wide outcomes that do far more than deter individual youths from substance abuse. By actively involving young people in assessing and addressing substance abuse in their communities, the model develops the confidence, knowledge, and skills young people need to advocate on behalf of their communities for a lifetime. What’s more, the policies they enact alongside their adult allies create positive changes that reduce substance abuse throughout their communities.
  12. Supporting LGBTQIA+ Youth
    • This training will dive into best practices on how to support and work with LGBTQ and gender nonconforming youth. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the basic concepts of gender and sexuality and how to best support LGBTQ+ youth. This training will focus on the specific needs of LGBTQ+ youth and how to build more LGBTQ+ inclusive spaces. This workshop will be interactive and will provide participants with an opportunity to run through common scenarios and practice intervening in homophobic and transphobic situations.
  13. Youth Representation On Boards Of Directors 
    • This training focuses on youth engagement and amplification on decision making bodies. From board of directors, city commission to advocacy councils this training will help adult allies to initially set the table for young people to thrive as they serve their communities on these boards or commissions. 
  14. Youth Development Program Evaluation Strategies
    • In this workshop participants will learn best practices around measuring youth engagement and youth development in programs. In this workshop participants will:
      • Understand how to measure youth engagement and youth development outcomes in programs.
      • Explore evaluation strategies that address youth development, including a review of example questions and tools.
      • Learn about methods that engage youth in program evaluation
  15. Youth Storytelling
    • In this workshop you will learn how to work in partnership with young people to harness the power of storytelling in order to support youth-led campaigns and bring positive change to your communities. We will explore how storytelling can be used as a tool to center youth voices and how storytelling tools can be used to tell the stories of youth and their communities through a community health lens.
  16. True Colors Leadership Styles
    • Through YLI’s exclusive True Colors Leadership assessment, you will discover your unique leadership style and develop a deeper understanding of your personal strengths and areas for growth. You will also develop a deeper understanding of leadership styles among your team and techniques for working with different leadership styles. 
  17. Public Speaking
    • Gain the skills and tools needed to skillfully express yourself before diverse audiences. Through hands-on activities, you will learn the skills and qualities of an effective speaker and explore tools for successful communication and presentations.
  18. Facilitation And Meeting Management 
    • Ensure all voices are heard in your group. Learn how to lead productive meetings and encourage teamwork through gaining vital listening skills, tools for fruitful group dialogue, encouraging participation and team decision-making. 
  19. Youth-Led Action Research And Advocacy 
    • In this interactive training, you will learn about various youth-led research projects, the steps of action research and research methodologies and how community assessments can be used to frame issues and solutions. 
  20. Environmental Strategies For Positive Social Change 
    • In this training you will learn the environmental prevention framework and strategies that work to change settings, conditions, and messages that both directly and indirectly influence the behaviors of individuals and/or address root causes of community health issues. 
  21. Media Advocacy 
    • In this training you will learn how to craft messages that support your community work and a variety of media advocacy approaches and social media strategies to help advance a social issue or policy. In this training you will also have an opportunity to practice using different social media tools to shape and frame an issue. 
  22. Policy Advocacy 
    • In this training you will learn about institutional and public policy and gain an understanding of the ways policy impacts our lives and communities. Participants will also develop skills in how to advocate for policies that promote community health. 
  23. Strategic Action Planning 
    • In this training you will learn various strategies and tactics to support programs and campaigns, as well as learning the process of action planning. You will do this by:
      • Learning the steps and benefits of campaign planning 
      • Learning about targets and tactics 
      • Practicing to use tools that will support in planning your campaigns
  24. Community Organizing for Change
    • In this training participants will explore the power of relationship building, community engagement for creating change; including strategies such as one-on-one conversations for building trust and relationships and mobilization tools and strategies such as power mapping. 
  25. Building Relationships with Decision-makers
    • In this training participants will learn strategies for communicating with decision-makers and raising policy maker awareness of the issues most important to communities and youth. Effectively partnering with elected officials to make PSE change will also be explored.
  26. Community and Team Building 
    • It takes teamwork to make real community change! Shared roles, expectations, and agreements help build and maintain healthy and productive teams. Learn the key processes and structures that help groups to work together productively, foster safety and trust and create shared accountability.
  27. Communication Skills for Leaders
    • This training focuses on increasing the positive communication and active listening skills of participants, from youth to adults, in a variety of settings utilizing positive youth development principles.
  28. Practicing Anti-Racist Leadership
    • Dismantling racism requires that we center the youth voices and the lived experiences of those who have been most marginalized through providing opportunities to lead and be heard. This workshop explores the leadership qualities and skills that are needed to promote equitable and inclusive partnerships, opportunities to examine one’s own unique leadership style and how to utilize one’s talents and skills to further racial equity and ideas for amplifying youth voice to combat racism.
