For the third year, yli Long Beach youth rejoin the Invest In Youth Coalition in facilitating a participatory budgeting process where youth help shape summer programming through a multi-step approach. This process is the product of prior advocacy from the Invest In Youth Coalition and has seen an increase in funding for its third year — $550,000 will be distributed to summer program proposals chosen by youth. Currently, yli Long Beach youth are helping narrow down a list of 100+ youth summer program ideas into a smaller list of ideas that will move on to future phases where youth will help sponsoring organizations craft their proposals and vote on which proposals will receive funding.
