Michelle Purnell (she/her)

Michelle was born and raised in Fresno, California. She graduated from Bullard High School in 2012 and went on to earn a dual degree in English: Writing Practices and Theatre Arts (with an emphasis in performance) from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2016. For the past decade Michelle has worked in education, the nonprofit sector, and theatre arts (as a director, performer, writer, producer, curator, and advocate for underrepresented populations in art spaces). Her work in theatre and education has paved a path for her to build unique connections and combine her love of the arts with her passion for helping BIPOC peoples/communities.

Michelleā€™s goal in every environment she occupies is to be a walking brave space for those around her. She is very excited to be working with yli because this organization represents, practices, and directly implements the equity they wish to achieve.

Some of Michelleā€™s hobbies include discussing true crime podcasts, yelling at reality TV shows, talking about actor development, playing The Sims and spending time with her loved ones.
