The new young women’s storytelling group, ¡Que Madre!, supports young women of color, ages 15-25, in the Eastern Coachella Valley (ECV). In this program, young women living in the ECV will develop storytelling skills to better tell the narratives of their lives as they navigate mental health challenges including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and childhood trauma.

The cohort will provide support for the young women to further investigate the trends and data and stories from their communities that negatively affect the mental health of young women and work to find and share resources with the community so that solutions are more readily available. The cohort will culminate in the designing and hosting of a community event to share mental health resources and to do the important work of destigmatizing mental health issues and care in the Eastern Coachella Valley.
