VoiceWaves is a media hub that equips young people with journalism and storytelling skills to uplift their stories and the stories of their communities. It amplifies youth voice through media partnerships and encourages civic engagement through community health reporting. VoiceWaves youth accomplish this by learning and utilizing skills like writing, interviewing, photography, podcasting, and zinemaking to publish stories about a variety of community issues.
Youth participants must attend biweekly in person meetings at yli’s Long Beach office.

Youth between the ages of 14-24 who live, work, play, or go to school in Long Beach are invited to apply! Just fill out this interest form before the end of November 2025 to join our next VoiceWaves Cohort.
