Andrea first joined yli as a youth participant in Community Action Model, advocating for minimum price laws and price promotion in San Francisco. She later became the program intern where she continued to uplift Bay Area youth with her commentary and passions for organizing. She now joins us as a Senior Program Coordinator for Healthy Online Platform for Everyone (H.O.P.E.) Coalition, organizing to hold social media accountable for the messages we receive online. Andrea has supported HOPE youth leaders to speak in front of California State Assembly to the White House Task Force on Protecting Kids Online.
Andrea also led the Youth Civic Empowerment Training Series with Mary Bier from Daly City Youth Health Center where youth leaders learned how to engage with their local community. Continuing this work in Redwood City’s VOICE program, Andrea trains youth leaders to sit on boards, commission and committees.
Andrea graduated from San Francisco State University, receiving a bachelors in Latino/a Studies and Race and Resistance under the Ethnic Studies Department, and participated in Urban Habitat’s Boards and Commission Leadership Institute. She hopes to create a healthy community space filled with history and resources to assist the activists of today.
